EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The city will host a stream cleanup from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 17.

The city asks individuals, families or groups that wish to participate in cleaning community streams and promoting water quality to contact Nate Conyers at 816- 630-0755, Ext. 429.

Volunteers are asked to call in advance to assured enough supplies will be available.

Gloves, T-shirts and trash bags will be provided by the Missouri Department of Conservation and the city.

The East Fork of Fishing River and Dry Fork in downtown Excelsior Springs have been targeted for cleaning. If there are enough volunteers, ravines feeding the river might be cleaned, too.

Student participation will be counted toward community service hours.

Volunteers are asked to appear between 7:15 and 7:30 a.m. on cleanup day at the Public Works building, 103 E. Water St., for assignments.
