City’s new park makin’ a... SPLASH
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – On Aug. 13, Excelsior Springs Parks and Recreation, or ESPR, celebrated the opening of the Rainbow Splash Park alongside the community center.
Rainbow Splash Park is a new facility that complies fully with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Park use is free to the public and includes four designated rental blocks each weekend.
Excelsior Springs Parks and Recreation Director Nate Williams said plans for this park have been in talks for more than five years.
“Before we had a location, the Parks and Recreation foundation held Piccadilly galas to raise money,” he said. “There were several locations that came up and fizzled away over the years, but after an evaluation of the Rainbow Swim Club property with an aquatic engineer, this location really stood out for a new use.”
