Community fair links neighbors to services

MIRANDA JAMISONA recent event at the Good Samaritan Center sought to remove barriers between residents and the services available to them.Hosted by Thrive Excelsior, the Community Resource Fair gave residents a one-stop opportunity to meet local organizations and ask questions face-toface.The fair included about 10 participating organizations and drew roughly 30 people — fewer than organizers had hoped — creating opportunities for residents to connect with local services and for groups to build new relationships.Substance Abuse Free Environments Director Julia Mees noted attendees valued the chance to explore several local resources in one place.“We heard very positive feedback from those attending the fair,” said Mees. “They were thankful for the time to come and learn about a variety of organizations at once and encouraged us to keep hosting events like this.”Mees explained events like the fair...
