Council agrees to treadmills
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs Community Center will get six new treadmills to support fitness at the community center.
The City Council approved Parks and Recreation Director Nate Williams’ request for the machines Feb. 22 at the Public Works Building.
Williams estimated the time to deliver and install the Matrix machines, priced at $49,753, at between eight and 10 weeks. Based on that estimation, the machines should be ready to serve the community by May.
The current treadmills have a shelf life of between “five to six years or 16,000 miles” and are in their fifth year of use, he said. At this stage, present machines are nearing the end of their expected service life.
“They’ve got a lot of use,” Williams said. “Which is (a) great problem to have.”
Expected to last 100,000 miles, or at least 10 years, the new treadmills include two machines geared toward endurance/competitive running, Williams said.
