The Excelsior Springs City Council appointed new members in various positions within the community during its recent meeting, as well as handling other city business. Laurie Gehrt was appointed to the Excelsior Springs Capital Improvements and Transportation Trust Authority, replacing councilman Reggie St. John. Kyle Uptegrove and Patrick Halfhill were reappointed to the parks and recreation board, with Mark Bullimore and Eric Marshall joining them as new members. Gary Renne was appointed to the Excelsior Springs Community Foundation, to complete the remaining term of Sharon Powell. In other business, Economic Development Director Melinda Mehaffy requested consideration of a change order for $54,667.14 to clean and seal the terrazzo flooring inside the Hall of Waters, including the lobby and museum area of the building.
