Council OKs new fire department vehicle
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Fire Department is getting a new ambulance.
On Oct. 18, the City Council approved Chief Joe Maddick’s request to buy a 2022 AEV Traumahawk Type III vehicle with a Ford engine. The department is buying the vehicle from American Response Vehicles in Columbia.
Priced at $256,138, including an $11,099 discount, the transaction comes under the $277,000 cap set in August with the Public Safety Sales Tax Committee’s approval of the department’s request, city documents state.
The department’s “oldest ambulance” will be sold at auction, with the money going into the department’s public safety sales tax funds, Maddick stated in an Oct. 18 letter to city leaders.
