County building renamed for former commissioner

LIBERTY – The Clay County Commission agreed to rename a county building the Ed Quick County Building in honor of former Clay County Presiding Commissioner Ed Quick. Also a former Missouri Senate President pro tem, Kansas City councilman, firefighter and U.S. Navy veteran, Quick, 81, died in 2016. “The next step is to get whatever the appropriate signage is and do a little unveiling when that’s ready,” Clay County Presiding Commissioner Jerry Nolte said. The 6,000-squarefoot county building that will bear Quick’s name is the former Central Bank building, 16 W. Franklin St., just off Liberty Square. The county bought the building in March. ...
