County completes major law enforcement project
Clay County’s growing population helped drive the development of the county’s first major law enforcement construction project in 25 years. The Law Enforcement Resource Center opened Nov. 25 to provide space for firearms training, defensive tactics and scenario-based instruction.The grand opening welcomed county employees, local elected officials and partner agencies. The night before, more than 40 neighboring residents toured the facility for a preview of what will serve as the county’s central training site for deputies. The project is the first law enforcement construction effort since the Clay County Detention Center expansion opened in 2000.County officials said the facility was funded through approximately $8 million in federal grants, including support from the American Rescue Plan Act and the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant.
