On Aug. 8, the Excelsior Springs School District honored four women who had helped prep district buildings for the 2022-23 school year. Rhonda Stevenson, Penny Dunker, Cherlynn Mawby and Alana Baxter were recognized as the Classified Employees of the Month during the Board of Education’s regular meeting at the Support Services Center. Each woman received a certificate of recognition and the four were photographed together. Before the photo op, Jaret Tomlinson, deputy superintendent, introduced them by commenting: “Each year, we hire some fine individuals to go around the district and help with painting projects and other maintenance kind of fix-ups. … These wonderful ladies were helpful in going around and making sure that all of our classrooms and hallways were all ready for a new school year for our kiddos to come back. … I know it’s a lot of work and it’s not the most glorious – they can get hot – bu...
