A suspect and child were declared dead after a domestic disturbance call in Lawson this week.On Nov. 17, the Lawson Police Department received a call about a domestic disturbance in the 200 block of Montgomery Street in Lawson. The department requested assistance from the Ray County Sheriff’s Office, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP). A Lawson officer and a Ray County deputy arrived on the scene and were informed Brett J. Yager, 26, of Lawson had been assaulting a female victim. Officers were also told a young child was inside the residence.Officers approached the residence to engage with Yager, who was inside the home. Upon their arrival, Yager revealed a firearm and discharged it towards the officers, resulting in the injury of a deputy from Ray County, according to MSHP.
