Doug Richey seeks 21st District Senate seat

Republican Doug Richey from Excelsior Springs has announced his bid for the 21st District seat on the Missouri State Senate. The district is currently represented by Senator Denny Hoskins, who does not intend to seek reelection. The 21st District includes a portion of Clay and Ray, Lafayette, Saline, Howard and Cooper counties. An Excelsior Springs resident, Richey was born in Norfolk, Va., and is currently representing District 39 in the Missouri House of Representatives, a spot he’s held since Jan. 4, 2023. The senate’s Republican primary election is scheduled for Aug. 6, 2024. He has served in the Army National Guard as a combat engineer and earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and finance from the University of Central Missouri. Additionally, he earned his Master of Divinity degree in theology from the Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, a Master of Arts degree in Greek and Hebrew, a Master of Theology degree and a Doctorate of Ministry degree in expository preaching…
