Proceeds from the Downtown Excelsior Partnership’s (DEP) annual benefit dinner, hosted on Sept. 15, will be used to construct a new outdoor deck seating area on Broadway in downtown Excelsior Springs. The outdoor seating project will be located next to Willow Springs Mercantile and includes a mural that will be situated opposite the seating area. The project, though announced during the annual dinner, has been in the works for about three months. It is being called Lithia Landing, named after the previous well that was located on the site, as well as the Willow Park Lithia Pavillion. The dinner’s dessert auction raised more than $5,330 toward the development of the new deck project. As the DEP has just begun fundraising for the project, information on when production of the outdoor seating area and mural would begin were not available at press time....
