Elementary schools emphasize empathy, semester milestones
As Excelsior Springs students move into the final weeks of the semester, elementary buildings across the district are focusing on attendance, academic progress and a smooth transition into the winter season. Schools are closing out quarter two with assessments, family events and recognition of students who have demonstrated strong character and responsibility.Cornerstone Elementary continues to center its work on student growth and high-quality instruction. Principal Jessica Broadbent noted the building’s attendance stands at 88.43 percent of students attending at least 90 percent of the time and staff are emphasizing the importance of consistency as winter approaches. Teachers are reviewing Standardized Test for the Assessment of Reading (STAR) literacy data to guide targeted support through the end of the quarter.
