An Excelsior Springs man has entered a not-guilty plea to several felony counts stemming from alleged sexual contact with a minor.Matthew R. Bryant, 25, is facing four felony charges of first-degree statutory rape or attempted statutory rape of a person less than 14 years of age. He recently appeared and entered a not guilty plea to the charges before Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Shane T. Alexander.As of press time, he remains in the custody of the Clay County Detention Center with a $250,000 bond, with surety posting permitted.He will appear for a bond hearing at 10:30 a.m. on March 5.Because the charges were filed through a grand jury indictment, no probable cause statement or investigative report has been released.
