ES transient commits suicide after police standoff
An Excelsior Springs transient man recently took his life after a standoff with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).Paul C. Buchholz, 61, was ordered to be placed under house arrest while facing two felony charges of alleged road rage and was scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 29 but failed to do so. Buchholz was ordered to be under house arrest as a part of his bond conditions while awaiting trial.Shortly before 9 a.m. on Oct. 30, the GPS monitoring company representative contacted CCSO to report the individual’s whereabouts. The company reported Buchholz was at Crow’s Creek Campground near Smithville Lake, which falls outside the designated boundaries set by the terms of his house arrest.
