A local emergency response department is making moves to instill community confidence with an onsite modular or prop training facility. The Excelsior Springs Fire Department (ESFD) personnel say the facility will be constructed to reflect real-life emergencies, allowing personnel to be prepared for any situation. “This will not only keep staff members up to date on training, but more importantly help to keep them safe,” stated ESFD Training Chief John Potter. “This in return will provide better services and safety to the community as well.” This modular facility is made of 11 Conex containers and the interior can be unbolted or reconfigured to train with different scenarios. “Five containers make up the first floor that will include the first-floor residential rooms in one section and the other section will have a hallway that connects all three containers to be used as an apartment building scenario or more residential rooms,” explained Potter. “It has four containers on top that…
