ESHS student seeks donations for pageant
A holiday wreath sale is being planned to help an Excelsior Springs High School freshman participate in a beauty pageant.Kathleen VanVacter is advocating for her stepdaughter, Kirsten, who wants to compete in the 2025 National American Miss (NAM) Pageant. She believes that this experience could boost Kirsten’s confidence and provide valuable life skills. However, financial hurdles are presenting a challenge to cover the necessary costs, such as entry fees, training sessions and appropriate attire for the event.To help with these costs, the duo has decided to sell wreaths hoping the community will support them.“This year, we are getting a jump start by selling wreaths that we are making with our family,” said VanVacter. “My brother-in-law, Jerry Van-Vacter, used to operate a Christmas tree farm in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
