ESSD enrollment up; state funding might dip

Enrollment at the end of May was slightly higher for the Excelsior Springs School District than May 2021, Superintendent Travis Hux reported when the Board of Education convened June 27 at the Support Services Center. “That was good to see that,” Hux said. District records show there were 2,658 students enrolled through May 20, including Head Start students. By comparison, 2,624 were enrolled in May 2021. The high school and Early Childhood Center (ECC) showed the largest gains. The district reported 746 students enrolled, compared to 702 in May 2021. The ECC reported 153 students, compared to 103 last May. Facilities reporting losses included the Job Corps campus and the middle school. The middle school reported 591 students, compared to 625 in May 2021. The Job Corps dropped from 76 to 53.
