Seven Excelsior Springs Youth Wrestling Club grapplers are headed to the Missouri USA state tournament, slated for March 24-26 at Hy-Vee Arena in Kansas City. Mac Gear, Logan Bates, Braxxton Vosika, Karli Grass, Jrayton Salmon, Lilly Smith and Kennedy Grass comprise the group. The wrestlers secured their spots by placing among the top four in their respective age/weight divisions at the Region A Tournament March 11 at Staley High School in Kansas City. Gear will compete in the 8-and-under, 115-pound division after going 2-1 and placing second at regionals. Bates also placed second, going 2-1 at 12U 105. In addition, Vosika placed second at 12U 210 and Karli Grass went 1-1 and took second at 10U 55. In other tournament results, Salmon went 3-1 and placed third at 10U 90. Smith placed third at 12U 250. Kennedy Grass took fourth at 12U 65. ...
