Excelsior Springs High School football players give back

Those who do kind things for others in the community help bring about a sense of togetherness. The Excelsior Springs High School football team worked together recently to aid area residents in various tasks during the seventh annual Tiger Workday. The Tiger Workday involved splitting the football team up into groups. Each group went to a resident’s home to help with yard work, heavy lifting and other household tasks. Excelsior Springs football coach Jonah Anderson said the young men gathered at the high school to conduct a morning workout before setting off to help residents with their requests. The first group of football players helped Abigail Douglas transform her front yard into an English garden by shoveling and placing mulch into beds. Although Douglas was absent, her mother, Marcia Broadbent, worked alongside the young men and said the task of moving the mulch was much easier to accomplish with the team’s help.
