With a “Rock Around the Clock” theme, Excelsior Springs is gearing up for the upcoming Silver Prom. The Silver Prom — solely for those ages 60 and over — will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on May 4. The senior citizen prom idea was presented by a Conoly Plaza resident during an Excelsior Springs Aging Well meeting. “Everyone loved the idea and the planning started,” said Neighborhood Specialist Laura Mize. “Within a couple of weeks, word had reached the Excelsior Springs High School (ESHS) Student Council. Allison Neumann reached out to me for a meeting because the students wanted to be involved, even offering to host the prom in their commons area.” Silver Prom activities will include live music by the Bucket Band, a photo booth, crowning of king and queen for each decade participating and raffle tickets for door prizes.
