Excelsior Springs man killed, wife under arrest
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – An Excelsior Springs-area man is dead and his wife is under arrest, Ray County Sheriff Scott Childers stated.
Childers said his office took a domestic violence call “with shots fired” about midnight Wednesday on Shoemaker Road east of the city.
“When a male party was found dead upon arrival, a female suspect was taken into custody,” he said.
The deceased is James Peterson, 56. The suspect, his wife, Jacqueline Peterson, is 52.
“He was shot eight times,” Childers said.
A female and a male deputy inter viewed Jacqueline Peterson after the incident for her side of the story, Childers said. He made sure to include a female deputy, he said, to avoid any potential allegation of unfair treatment.
