KANSAS CITY – Law enforcers found Trinton Phillips, 21, Excelsior Springs, with a fatal gunshot wound on the Price Chopper parking lot, 9717 N. Ash Ave., Kansas City, across from Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Liberty. “It is believed that it was an attempted robbery,” Kansas City Police spokeswoman Doaa El-Ashkar said Tuesday. An EMS team pronounced Phillips dead at the scene. The shooting occurred around 5:15 p.m. Monday. Police seek an adult, white male suspect, but have little more to go on, El-Ashkar said. “All we know now is that it’s a dark sedan,” she said. Police continued working the case after canvassing people for information on the parking lot Monday. “Detectives are speaking with several witnesses and trying to gather more information to help them determine what led up to the shooting.
