Summer school is returning to Excelsior Springs later this month as district leaders described plans for academic support, enrichment activities and expanded opportunities for students.The plan was presented during a recent Board of Education meeting by Excelsior Springs Middle School Principal Anneliese Gould and Elkhorn Elementary Principal Dr. Jennifer Harris, who outlined schedules, enrollment projections and programming for students from elementary through high school.Elementary and middle school summer programs will run from May 27 through June 18, while high school offerings will continue through June 26, depending on the course.Elementary students will attend from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., while middle school students will follow an 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. schedule.District leaders said the overall structure of the program will remain similar to last year, with a continued focus on balancing academic instruction with ha...
