Excelsior Springs schools restart food delivery

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Being out of school does not put food in the bellies of hungry students and the Excelsior Springs School District is again addressing the issue. Superintendent Dan Hoehn said that after school had closed in mid-March due to COVID-19, the district continued feeding students, providing more than 50,000 meals. “That was breakfast and lunch throughout the district,” he said, with some food delivered by bus and some available for pickup at Westview Elementary School. After a break, the district restarted the program Thursday, Hoehn said. The program is available Mondays and Thursdays through June 30, with enough food provided each time to extend beyond a single day, he said. “For example, if you pick up on Thursday, you’ll have maybe breakfast and lunch for a couple of days there,” Hoehn said. “There’s enough meals to supplement in between versus having to pick up every day.” The program will offer more options than before for receiving food, he said. “The good news is,…
