Fire equipment costs drive public safety tax change
Fire services in Excelsior Springs will now receive a larger share of the city’s Public Safety Sales Tax revenue, a change aimed at addressing the rising cost of fire trucks, ambulances and other long-term equipment needs.City council members approved the change during a recent meeting through an ordinance that formally establishes the Public Safety Sales Tax Oversight Committee and revises how revenue from the voter-approved tax is allocated between the Police and Fire departments.“This ordinance was tabled in November.
