Fire prevention lessons reach more than 1,200 students

For nearly half a century, the Excelsior Springs Fire Department (ESFD) has made fire prevention education a priority. This fall, firefighters continued that tradition by visiting classrooms across the district to share practical lessons on safety, prevention and preparedness.From Oct. 6-Oct. 21, firefighters connected with more than 1,200 Excelsior Springs children, visiting preschools, elementary classrooms and early-education buildings. Thanks for Wood Heights Fire Protection District, outreach also extended to Elkhorn Elementary, which lies outside the department’s jurisdiction but within the Excelsior Springs School District.
