EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The BBQ & Fly-In On the River barbecue contest drew 42 teams that cooked chicken, pork and turkey Aug. 20-22. Gettin’ Basted barbecue cooker Brad Leighningher, Branson, spoke about the friendly competition with fellow barbecuers and his overall win for the day. “I’m feeling good,” Leighningher said. “Holding off Joe Pearce (Slap’s BBQ) made it a good day and a good win.” Leighningher said he goes to barbecue competitions almost every weekend and it has become a career for him.
