EXCLESIOR SPRINGS – What sounds like bad news on the surface is good news for the Hall of Waters, city Economic Development Director Melinda Mehaffy said. The city announced Sept. 17 that the Hall of Waters had been named to the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s 2020 11 Most Endangered Historic Places list. Being one of the nation’s mostendangered historic buildings is a source of concern, with millions needed for repairs a small city alone could not fund, Mehaffy said. The city does everything possible to keep the hall in top shape, Mayor Pro Tempore Sonya Morgan said. “The city has an incredible building in the Hall of Waters, and therefore, an incredible responsibility,” Morgan said. “Our spa community continues to attract thousands of visitors to Excelsior Springs yearly.
