SHAWN RONEY Staff writer EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Hall of Waters refurbishing plans must change, City Manager Molly McGovern advised city leaders near the end of the City Council’s Aug. 2 meeting. The building holds several city offices, including McGovern’s, and generates tourism. Architects conducting a scope of work study on the hall delivered the findings at a July 30 meeting, McGovern said. “Based on some of the accelerated deterioration of the building,” changes are necessary, she said. The biggest area of concern involves columns “on the west side of the pool walls” in the basement, McGovern said. Because of concern about those weight-bearing columns, “human traffic in that wing” will be limited, McGovern said. “The concrete is not holding to the iron in those areas,” she said.
