Historic properties recognized
The Excelsior Springs Historic Preservation Commission recently held a regular meeting during which awards were presented for the preservation of historic properties in Excelsior Springs.Historic Preservation Commission Chairman Jason Van Till presented owners of three properties with awards recognizing their efforts in the preservation of historic properties in three categories: residential property, commercial property and investment property.Mark Spohn was recognized for the preservation project at 436 E. Broadway, also known as the Bates-Jewell House, which is an investment property.When asked about his project, Spohn said, “It was deeper than anything I’ve ever done, but it was rewarding after it was done.
