Infant manikins available for educational training
Clay County Public Health Center recently announced lifelike manikins showcasing prenatal infant substance use exposure are now available to be utilized for educational training by organizations. In partnership with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services’ Prenatal Substance Use Prevention Program, the health center is now loaning out lifelike infant manikins representing infants with various substance exposure issues, including fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS), neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) and otherwise healthy conditions to educate and demonstrate to organizations the effects of prenatal substance use.
“Organizations can borrow the manikins to demonstrate the effects of prenatal substance use to promote healthy pregnancies,” read the release. “The NAS manikin will feature the effects of withdrawal while the FAS manikin features some of alcohol’s devastating effects.”
