Investigation into allegations of abuse by teacher continues
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Excelsior Springs School District continues to review allegations that involve how a teacher may have abused a student, the district’s deputy superintendent, Dr. Jaret Tomlinson, said Monday.
The teacher allegedly sprayed a 10-year-old with apple cider vinegar and restrained the student, based on published reports.
“I’m aware that allegation was made, but we’re currently investigating to see if there’s anything to that or not,” Tomlinson said.
The district received notice of the allegations April 11.
“We want to see what’s really going on,” Tomlinson said. “I’m just not far enough into it to really have any answers.”
The district is working in cooperation with the Children’s Division, Missouri Department of Social Services, to investigate the claims.
The teacher is on leave.
