It’s all about the customers at Y Liquor
Because 50 years in business is considered something to celebrate, Y Liquor owners Bob and Billy Hart wanted a special celebration that appreciated the customers who have been the mainstay of the business.
On Oct. 8, the couple hosted a Customer Appreciation Day at the storefront, providing hotdogs, various tastings and free T-shirts, as well as some giveaways.
Bob Hart has owned the store since 1972.
“Feb. 1, 1972, was when I bought it from Dennis King,” he said.
Bob Hart started Y Liquor in a building where The Garage is now and decided to move to the current location in 1976, taking the place of a DX Station.
“Schlitz was the king of beers back then,” he reminisced. “A case of beer cost, I think it was $4.95 then.”
Billy Hart joined Y Liquor in 1989.
“I said, ‘I don’t want to work in a liquor store!’ But 33 years later, here we are,” she joked.
The Harts have been married for 32 years.
