Job Corps students highlight workforce training, community support

From growing up in poverty to moving across continents, two Job Corps students recently stood before a room of local leaders and business owners, sharing personal journeys shaped by hardship, relocation and determination,offering a firsthand look at the program’s impact on workforce training and community support.The students spoke at the Excelsior Springs Chamber of Commerce luncheon, where the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center was the featured program.Center Director Lori Sams opened the presentation with a brief overview of the program, noting Job Corps provides fully funded, industry-level training for students ages 16 to 24, along with educational and residential support designed to prepare participants for long-term career success.She also highlighted a major milestone for the local center, which marked 60 years of operation in Excelsior Springs this year after first opening its doors in 1966.Janviere Nishimwe ou...
