EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – Superintendent Dan Hoehn told the board in closed session Monday he planned to retire Aug. 2. “When I came to Excelsior Springs, I heard from many of you that all we needed was unity, a collective voice and a focus on making our schools better for our students,” he said. District information states Hoehn’s notable contributions include passage of a $22-million bond to replace an elementary school, various school improvements and safety projects. He further led the district through substantial changes in school operations caused by the coronavirus, COVID-19. “Dr. Hoehn has accomplished so much in his four years as superintendent and has always surrounded himself with very talented people,” board President Tray Harkins said. “His vision to push for modernizing our facilities has been a great accomplishment for our students and our community as a whole.
