Local efforts provide food, opportunities for area youth

Efforts to address food insecurity among Excelsior Springs students are expanding, offering consistent access to nutritious food.

Feed Northland Kids Executive Director Colleen Wachter recently presented an update to the Excelsior Springs Substance Abuse Free Environments (SAFE) Coalition on the organization’s efforts to provide food assistance to children and families, including services currently available and expanding in the city.

Feed Northland Kids works to provide children and families experiencing food insecurity with consistent access to nutritious food. Wachter explained the organization serves families with school-aged children through school food pantries and its Community Food Kit program.
