Local man avoids felony conviction through plea agreement

An Excelsior Springs man who faced a felony weapons charge has been placed on probation after a plea agreement reduced the case to a lesser offense. Myles L. Casey, 28, recently entered a guilty plea before Clay County Circuit Court Judge Karen Krauser to one misdemeanor count of peace disturbance.Casey was originally charged with one felony count of unlawful use of a weapon and one misdemeanor of violating a protection order for an adult. Under the plea agreement, the state dismissed the protection order charge and amended the weapons count to the misdemeanor offense of peace disturbance, to which Casey pleaded guilty. Casey received a suspended imposition of sentence and was placed on supervised probation for two years through Northland Dependency Services.
