An early morning house fire on Stratton Street claimed the life of one person last week after flames tore through a residential structure on the city’s north side.Excelsior Springs Fire Department units were dispatched to the scene at 5:23 a.m. on May 16. Crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the front porch of the home. The occupancy status of the residence was unknown at the time of the call.“Firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack while simultaneously conducting a primary search for anyone inside,” said Deputy Chief Cameron White. “The fire was brought under control and during a secondary search, an adult victim was found at the rear of the structure. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.”The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to assist with the investigation.
