Dozens of pairs of shoes and additional donations from the Excelsior Springs Rotary Club are helping support a regional effort to provide footwear for children in need around the world.The effort is part of the “Shoes for Orphan Souls” project, a partnership between Rotary District 6040 and Buckner International that has spanned 25 years. Through the program, Rotary clubs across the district collect new shoes, socks and monetary donations, which are then shipped to a humanitarian aid warehouse in the Dallas, Texas, area before being distributed to orphanages and vulnerable children around the world.The initiative connects 51 clubs in north and north-central Missouri, allowing smaller communities, including Excelsior Springs, to contribute to a larger, coordinated effort.The Excelsior Springs Rotary Club contributed a total of 225 pairs of shoes during this year’s drive, continuing its participation in the district-wide effort.According to program da...
