MDC urges wildlife reporting
Autumn in the outdoors of Missouri presents a spectacular opportunity for wildlife observation, making it a delight for the hundreds of thousands of hunters taking to the fields. As the leaves transform into vibrant hues of orange, yellow and red, the landscape becomes a picturesque backdrop for those exploring the natural beauty of the state. In addition to hunters, many hikers and wildlife enthusiasts venture out to experience the rich diversity of flora and fauna. Throughout the season, one can expect to spot a variety of animals preparing for winter, from deer foraging in the forests to migratory birds passing through. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is asking hunters and others to report sightings of key animal species they see when outdoors, including elk, black bears, mountain lions, rare furbearers, badgers, least weasels, long-tailed weasels, spotted skunks and invasive feral hogs. Spotting of wildlife can be reported at mdc.mo.gov/ wildlife/report-wildl...
