A mental examination has been ordered for an Excelsior Springs man who is facing a felony charge of second-degree battery.Jeffrey P. Jackson II, 40, was recently scheduled to appear for a criminal setting hearing but failed to do so after previously posting a $500 bond. His private attorney, Timothy Tipton, requested a mental examination for his client. Eighth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Lori J. Baskins approved the motion and did not issue a failure to appear warrant.According to the complaint filed by Ray County Prosecuting Attorney Camille A. Johnston, the range of punishment for this class D felony is imprisonment in the custody of the Missouri Department of Corrections for a term of years not less than one year and not to exceed seven years; or by imprisonment for a special term not to exceed one year in the county jail or other authorized penal institution; or by a fine not to exceed $10,000; or...
