Movies on the Lawn continues downtown tradition
Families will have five more opportunities to gather under the stars in downtown Excelsior Springs as Movies on the Lawn continues through October.
The free, family-friendly outdoor movie series is hosted by Downtown Excelsior Partnership and Excelsior Springs Parks and Recreation on the Hall of Waters lawn, offering residents and visitors a chance to enjoy movies together in the heart of downtown.
Movies on the Lawn has been a community tradition for several years and was originally held at Carolyn Schutte Pocket Park. When Parks and Recreation began looking at the program’s future, Downtown Excelsior Partnership (DEP) Executive Director Lyndsey Baxter explained the organization felt it was important to keep the family tradition alive in downtown.
“For DEP, it fit perfectly with our mission of creating an active, welcoming downtown where people have reasons to gather together outside of shopping or dining,” stated Baxter.
