Museum reopens with new displays

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Museum and Archives doors will open Tuesday after nearly four months off, operations chief Kathy Duncan said. “We will be reopening after a very long, extended winter break,” she said. NEW DISPLAYS Volunteers kept working during the break at the museum at East Broadway and South Main streets, Duncan said. “We are desperately still trying to get our displays in place. We have a lot of new stuff to show off,” she said. The museum bustled with activity Monday as volunteers hustled under the vaulted, patterned ceiling, to get artifacts into place. Duncan said a new display area is coming together to replace an ages-old, World War I collection of items and information. “This year, we took everything out of (the room) and installed some new flooring, painted the walls, and there’s a large, open display cabinet,” she said. “We’re moving things in again, with the f...
