New programs geared at saving lives
The Excelsior Springs Substance Abuse-Free Environments (SAFE) was recently given insight into two programs available in the city. CommCARE CEO Kristin Feeback shared information regarding Engaging Patients in Care Coordination (EPICC) and 988 the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline programs.
CommCARE’s EPICC program, one of the first in the state was created to help fight the opioid crisis, has been expanded to include stimulant and alcohol services to continue supporting individuals who are struggling in the community. The main goal of this organization is to reduce the number of substance related deaths in Missouri, Feeback mentioned.
“EPICC receives referrals from hospitals, clinics, eight fire/EMS districts and self-referrals. Individuals are referred to one of the seven substance abuse treatment provider agencies,” Feeback said.
