New vehicles for police dept.
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The police department is updating the fleet.
On Jan. 18, the City Council approved the department’s request to buy two Dodge Durango utility vehicles and one Dodge Charger sedan, per a Jan. 10 memo from Sgt. Jeremiah Renne to city leaders.
“Dodge is the auto manufacturer of both police sedans and police utility vehicles, and they are becoming the primary vehicle for many agencies,” Renne stated before the vote.
To be bought using public sales tax money from Landmark Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, an Independence-based dealership, the purchase total has a $94,976 cap, Renne stated.
Estimated delivery time is from three to six months, Renne said. When asked if he expected delivery by then, he cracked someone else had typed that instead of him.
“Who knows – this day and age we’re in,” Renne said. “But, yeah, (we hope to) get them (as) soon as possible.”
