Northland Coalition encourages annual conference participation

An event aimed at bringing together community members dedicated to youth mental health and substance use prevention is being planned.The Northland Coalition, in collaboration with Beacon Mental Health, will host the 2025 Northland Prevention Conference at 8 a.m. on March 6 at Platte Woods United Methodist Church.The annual event provides attendees with education, resources and strategies to help young people make healthy choices.Emily Barnes, community prevention specialist at Beacon Mental Health, stated the conference is intended for anyone who is concerned about the wellbeing of youth, regardless of their level of expertise in prevention.“The Northland Prevention Conference is a one-day event for any adult community member with a vested interest in the health and safety of youth,” said Barnes. “The goal is to provide education and information on the role adults play in a youth’s life, the influence they can have on a youth’s ...
