Parks and Rec offering PE curriculum
The Excelsior Springs Parks and Recreation Board announced it has begun offering a physical education curriculum for homeschool students. A Homeschool P.E. program began this week inside the community center. It was explained during the board’s recent meeting that the 10-week program, at a cost of $70 per student, included the following:
• Functional body movement: basic introduction to movements including jumping, landing, pushing, pulling, rolling, twisting, weight transfer and balance, curling and stretching.
• Swim Classes including stroke developments and aquatic workouts.
• Dance and aerobics classes.
• Kicking sports including, but not limited to, soccer and kickball.
• Hand sports including, but not limited to, volleyball, basketball, football and wall ball
• Object striking sports including, but not limited to, baseball, pickleball, tennis, racquetball and table tennis.
