The Excelsior Springs School District (ESSD) has formed a strategic partnership with Excelsior Springs Hospital (ESH) to establish a comprehensive safety protocol designed to protect the physical well-being of student-athletes participating in high school football games.Dr. Joshua Umscheid, a highly qualified pediatrician from ESH General Pediatrics, will now be on hand to provide comprehensive medical care and attention to athletes during all home varsity games. Furthermore, ESH Athletic Trainer Ashley Rose will be present at all home and away varsity football games, as well as home junior varsity games, ensuring the well-being and health of the student-athletes.“When someone is hurt on the sidelines, we do an evaluation,” explained Umscheid. “If it seems serious, we send them to the emergency department for X-rays.
