EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The city continues to consider eliminating decadesold legislation banning pit bulls. A public forum, or “listening post,” occurred at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Excelsior Springs Community Center. The city attempted “to identify a broad panel to … cover the subject and provide lots of conversation about the topic,” City Manager Molly McGovern told city leaders when announcing the event during the March 21 City Council meeting. The listening post included veterinarian Pete Rucker, attorney Katie Barnett, KC Pet Project’s Jessica Steele and Police Chief Greg Dull. The listening post resulted from a Dec. 3 discussion among city leaders during a work session.
